if you use the phrase “i’ll give you something to cry about” towards your child you are not fit to be a parent

I literally grew up hearing my parents say it to me so like I don’t see how this is a bad phrase, like it taught me to behave and be always pleasant, no one likes a dramatic kid always finding ways to attract attention to himself

Because kids often cry just because they are upset. With no “alterior motive” and not becuase “they want attention”.

This phrase teaches them that anytime they show emotion they will be harmed especially if it is the parent that is distressing them in the first place.

This phrase also demonstrates to a kid that the parents are not to be trusted. Therefore if a child has any problems it should hide them from the parent becuase, as the child is not allowed to cry, it should never have any emotions or emotional problems.

(And thats as coherent as i get at 5am… followers?)

And even if they want attention, does that really mean they’re at fault? If they have to cry for more attention, it shows what kind of parent you are. A shitty one.
